our new playroom with a stikwood accent wall!

*Stikwood gifted us the wood for this room*

The playroom is done and I am so proud of how it turned out! It was literally a catch all of chaos before this. We even had it gated off from our dog basically for his own safety ;) . We had a vision for a place to hang out and play that would work for all of our kids (ages six to thirteen) and I am so happy with how it turned out!

We loved how the cabinets in our living room turned out so we wanted to give it another go in the playroom. I thought it would be a good way to bring in some color, some character, and at the same time offer a whole bunch of storage to be able to hide the toy chaos.

The cabinets are from Lowe’s and are their project source brand. We painted them cyberspace from sherwin williams and I am so glad we went with this color. I was debating between this and iron ore and ultimately decided on cyberspace because of the cool blue undertones. We also used the exact same hardware as our other built in project and the gold hardware looks so good in here too. We used these long handles for drawers + these short handles for the cabinets.

The gorgeous plank wall is from Stikwood and is a peek and stick design of real wood. They gifted us the wood for this room and I am officially obsessed with it and already brainstorming where I can use it on another project in our house. It was incredibly easy to install! We laid out all of the pieces and got a feel for how we wanted the color variations to fit together. Then we followed the directions to measure a bit down the wall and start there. The application process is truly just peel, stick, roll on to make sure it is adhered well (they send a tool to help with this), and the only cutting you need to do is on the edges and the top of the wall. We got the weathered white option and I am so happy with the character that is brings to the room!

The rug is from Rugs USA and is actually the same rug we had at our old house. I love the blues in the design so much and knew it would look awesome in this space too.

The art on the stikwood accent wall is a collection of watercolor maps from Elizabeth Wade Studio. We got the Narnia, 100 Acre Woods, Neverland, + Harry Potter options. Dont they look so good?! She has a new Disney map and I am basically one thousand percent going to get it.

The fun light is from Zulily and it is often on sale!

One piece that I for sure wanted to try and make work was the big bookshelves. We have so many books and I wanted to have a space where they were more accessible but we also just needed more space for them. We made the shelves out of 8 ft boards that I stained. We then did the same style of pipe from the living room to make the bookshelves. We just drilled them into the studs along the wall.

The table in the window is actually the table that was in my office but it works better here, so we swapped it out. It is perfect for lego building, chess, board games…all the fun stuff. And how perfect are the stools?! I wanted something more low profile but that also felt sturdy for adults (you know what I means?!). These stools come in a four pack and the little backs on them are perfect!

The little girls play with the play kitchen almost every day, so we wanted to give them a space to have that. Plus with the table next to it now, they basically think they have a real restaurant ;)

This was such a labor of love but gosh it’s going to add so much usable space to our home. Plus we saved a ton of money doing the labor ourselves!

Check out the before/after below! It’s a pretty dramatic change!
